We are excited to announce a JFS STEAM Life in Motion | Biology Workshop – a 6-session hands-on workshop series, sponsored by the PTA. See curriculum for more details.
This workshop will be structured around the journey of blood cells through the systems of the body, specifically the respiratory, cardiovascular, circulatory. nervous/brain, digestive and immune systems.
Each week’s lesson will be aligned with a pillar of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math), and also with the JFS school curriculum for broader applicability.
Class Days: Tuesdays 2:45 – 3:45 pm weekly (except school holidays)

End Date: 05/20/2025
Grades: Grades 4 – 6
Cost: $0
Registration: 60 spots, open to grades 4 – 6
- Registration opens Wednesday March 26th at 8 pm, and closes when full

This spring session is for all grades (4th-6th) and taught by The Blood Cancer Association:
- Susan Nguyen | Susan is a senior at EVHS and the president of BCA. She is inspired to advocate for adequate scientific opportunities for students, and loves to engage them in building tactile models. She is currently pursuing a pre-med track to become a physician.
- Maylana Wu | Maylana is a junior at EVHS and the vice president of BCA. She is motivated to take initiatives in the fields of healthcare and science that encourage young students to engage in hands-on learning experiences. She is currently planning on pursuing a career in pediatric nursing to support children’s health and development.
- Lori Zhou | Lori is a junior at EVHS, and determined to help young individuals ranging from ages K-12 gain confidence in Science and Math. She’s studying to be a nurse, and has been tutoring at Mathnasium and volunteering at the library over the past 3 years
- Megan Wong | Megan is a junior at EVHS and the event coordinator of BCA. Passionate about science and health, she plans to pursue a career in dermatology and is excited to share how STEAM can lead to innovations in healthcare.
*Please note that per school district rules, students can not attend an after-school program if they’re absent from school that day (e.g. out sick)
